Wigan Warriors Suffer Blow as Mike Cooper Sidelined for Six Weeks with Knee Injury

The Wigan Warriors have been dealt a significant setback with the news that prop forward Mike Cooper will be out of action for six weeks due to a knee injury. Cooper, a key player in the Warriors’ dominant pack, suffered the injury in last weekend’s match against St. Helens and was subsequently ruled out for several weeks.

The 26-year-old Cooper has been a mainstay of the Warriors’ team this season, making 17 appearances and scoring two tries. His absence will be deeply felt, particularly in the upcoming match against Hull FC on Saturday.

Cooper’s injury is a grade two medial ligament sprain, which typically requires a recovery period of six weeks. The Warriors’ medical staff will work closely with Cooper to ensure his safe return to play.

“Mike is a vital part of our team, and his absence will be felt,” said Warriors’ Head Coach, Matt Peet. “However, we have a talented squad and will adapt to his absence. We wish Mike a speedy recovery and look forward to his return.”

The Warriors will need to adjust their forward pack to compensate for Cooper’s absence. Possible replacements include Liam Byrne, Ethan Havard, and Joe Shorrocks.

Despite Cooper’s injury, the Warriors remain confident in their ability to continue their winning streak. With a strong squad and a determined mindset, they are poised to overcome this setback and maintain their position at the top of the Super League table.
