Wigan Warriors Star, Liam Marshall, Sidelined with Season-Ending Injury
Wigan, UK – Wigan Warriors fans were dealt a devastating blow today as it was announced that star winger, Liam Marshall, will miss the remainder of the season due to a serious knee injury.
Marshall suffered the injury during last night’s match against St. Helens, going down in the 60th minute after a tackle gone wrong.
Scans revealed a torn ACL, which will require surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation period.
Marshall, who has been a key player for the Warriors this season, was visibly emotional as he left the field, knowing the severity of the injury.
“Liam is a vital part of our team, and this is a huge loss for us,” said Wigan Warriors Head Coach, Matt Peet. “We’re all gutted for him, and we’ll do everything we can to support him through this tough time.
Marshall’s teammates and fans took to social media to offer their support and well wishes, using the hashtag StayStrongLiam.
The Warriors will now have to regroup and find a way to fill the void left by Marshall’s absence as they push for a playoff spot.
