SEATTLE KRAKEN DISMISS HEAD COACH DAN BYLSMA AFTER JUST WEEKS ON THE JOB

Seattle, WA – July 22, 2024

In a shocking move, the Seattle Kraken have dismissed head coach Dan Bylsma just weeks after his appointment, citing unacceptable behavior and refusal to apologize.

Bylsma, who was named head coach on May 25, had been making waves with his demands for a higher salary and his treatment of staff. Despite his short tenure, Bylsma had already alienated several key team members and support staff with his abrasive behavior.

“The Seattle Kraken organization values respect, professionalism, and teamwork,” said General Manager, Ron Francis. “Unfortunately, Dan Bylsma’s behavior has fallen short of these expectations, and we have made the decision to part ways.”

According to sources close to the team, Bylsma had been making exorbitant salary demands, citing his experience and credentials. However, his behavior towards staff, including the use of abusive language, was the final straw.

“We will not tolerate behavior that creates a toxic work environment,” Francis added. “We need a coach who will lead by example and promote a positive culture within our organization.”

Bylsma’s dismissal comes as a surprise, given his experience and success in the NHL. However, his refusal to apologize or adapt his behavior made his position untenable.

The Kraken will now begin the search for a new head coach, with a focus on finding a leader who embodies the team’s values and can inspire the players to success.
