Paris, France – Novak Djokovic has released a heartfelt statement after being forced to withdraw from the French Open due to a knee injury.

“I’m heartbroken to announce that I’m withdrawing from the French Open, Djokovic said. “This tournament has always held a special place in my heart, and to not be able to compete is a tough pill to swallow.

Djokovic, who was seeking his 23rd Grand Slam title, suffered a medial meniscus tear in his right knee during his fourth-round match against Francisco Cerundolo.

I gave it my all, but unfortunately, my body had other plans,” Djokovic said. “I’m proud of the effort I put in, but it’s not the outcome I was hoping for.

The Serbian superstar thanked his fans for their support and vowed to return stronger than ever.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me on this journey,” Djokovic said. “I’ll work tirelessly to recover and come back even stronger.
