BOSTON BRUINS SIGN DEFENSEMAN CHARLIE MCAVOY TO 8-YEAR, $76 MILLION EXTENSION

The Boston Bruins have signed defenseman Charlie McAvoy to an 8-year, $76 million contract extension, the team announced today. The deal carries an average annual value of $9.5 million and will keep McAvoy in Boston through the 2030-31 season.

McAvoy, 25, has been a key player for the Bruins since entering the league in 2017. He has recorded 245 points in 373 games and has been named to the NHL All-Star Team twice.

We’re thrilled to have Charlie signed long-term,” said Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney. “He’s a cornerstone of our franchise and a leader on and off the ice. This deal ensures he’ll be a Bruin for years to come.

McAvoy expressed his excitement about the extension, saying, “I’m grateful to the Bruins organization for believing in me and committing to me long-term. I’m proud to be a part of this team and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

The signing solidifies McAvoy’s position as one of the top defensemen in the NHL and provides stability for the Bruins’ blue line for years to come.
