Veteran WR Returns to Detroit for Another Stint With….

The Lions, whose receiving corps has gained considerable depth heading into the second half of the season.

The Detroit Lions are bringing back a

familiar face to bolster their practice

squad, with wide receiver and kick

returner Maurice Alexander returning to

Detroit. NFL insider Aaron Wilson

reported on November 13 that Alexander

re-signed with the Lions, adding depth

after an undrafted rookie was waived

earlier this month.

Alexander, who first joined Detroit in

2022, made his mark as a kick returner

during his four-game NFL stint that

season. While his on-field action has

been limited, he’s spent ample time on

the Lions’ practice squad and had

previously impressed in the USFL with

the Philadelphia Stars. This season,

Alexander was released before the final

roster cutdown but is now rejoining the

Lions’ practice squad as the team shakes

up its wide receiver lineup.

The Lions’ recent wide receiver changes

have also seen veteran Tim Patrick rise

to a significant role. Signed to the

practice squad after his release by the

Denver Broncos, Patrick has since

stepped up with 12 catches for 177 yards

across seven games, adding value with

critical blocking skills.

In a key development, the Lions received

a big boost with the return of third-year

receiver Jameson Williams, who came

back from a two-game suspension for

violating the league’s performance-

enhancing drug policy. Williams’

comeback couldn’t have been better

timed; he caught three of his five targets

for 53 yards, helping the Lions pull off a

thrilling 26-23 win over the Houston

Texans by scoring 19 unanswered points.

Reflecting on his suspension, Williams

shared insights on personal growth. “Just

to be smarter, I guess. Move smarter. Be

a bigger person in certain situations,”

Williams told the *Detroit Free Press*,

hinting at a more mature approach

moving forward.

Head coach Dan Campbell expressed his

confidence in Williams’ progress and

emphasized the value of self-reflection.

“When you don’t have anybody to blame

but yourself, it makes you look at

yourself a little bit harder,” Campbell

said. With Campbell’s continued support,

Williams aims to make a strong impact

for the Lions, whose receiving corps has

gained considerable depth heading into

the second half of the season.
