Caitlin Clark can lead the Indiana Fever to a WNBA championship by following one easy rule, according to Stephanie White.
Superstar Caitlin Clark may have a successful season thanks to Stephanie White’s advice.
White is getting ready to take over as head coach of the Indiana Fever, and her goals for the upcoming campaign
are obvious.
Clark had an incredible first season in the WNBA and was voted TIME’s Athlete of the Year.
In addition to winning Rookie of the Year, the 22-year-old broke the records for assists in a single season in a
single game, set a new rookie scoring mark, and became the first rookie to register a triple-double.
The Fever made it to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 thanks to Clark’s strong individual campaign, but
Christie Sides, the former head coach, was unable to retain her position.
Sides was sacked by the Fever in October, and Stephaine White, the 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year and former
Connecticut Sun head coach, took her place.
White has said clearly what she anticipates from Clark as they attempt to win the title.
She became accustomed to this league quite fast. On the Coaching U Podcast, White stated, “Now it’s about
becoming not just a great player but a great leader for this team, so we can win not just a championship but
championships.”
The 47-year-old head coach disclosed the topics of their initial talk and emphasized that Clark’s progress on the
floor is equally as significant as his progress off it. “She’s a great player, she’s a high IQ player,” White stated.
“When we first spoke about Xs and Os the other day, I asked, ‘Well, how do you want to improve?'” We will then
discuss how we wish to accomplish it.
“And then I talk about how we can use her and help her but more efficient and more effective in general.”
White, who played in the WNBA for five years, added that she knows the stress these young players are under
and that she can use her experience to help players like Clark.
“Just being there to help her navigate some of the things she’s navigating [is something I’m happy to be able to
do],” the 47-year-old explained.
“I don’t think any of us can comprehend the daily struggles she faces… With her skills, popularity, and our
league, she bears a huge burden. She resembles Taylor Swift. 2.0.
As someone who has participated in this league and has experienced some of the challenges—not all of them, but
some.
