NHRA PRO STOCK EVENT LEAVES DRIVER CRITICALLY INJURED
A horrific crash occurred during the NHRA Pro Stock qualifying session at the Lucas Oil Nationals in Brainerd, Minnesota, leaving driver Kyle Koretsky critically injured.
Koretsky’s car suffered a catastrophic engine failure, causing it to veer off course and collide with the retaining wall at over 200 mph. The impact was so severe that it ripped the car’s engine from the chassis, sending debris flying everywhere.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and extracted Koretsky from the wreckage. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition with severe injuries, including a punctured lung, broken ribs, and a concussion.
“The entire NHRA community is praying for Kyle’s recovery,” said NHRA President Glen Cromwell. “This is a sobering reminder of the risks our drivers take every time they get behind the wheel.
The incident has raised concerns about safety in the sport, with many calling for improved engine containment and protective measures to prevent such devastating crashes in the future.
An investigation into the incident is underway, and the NHRA has offered support to Koretsky and his family during this difficult time.
