SHAWN LANGDON SUFFERS DEVASTATING CRASH AT NHRA EVENT

Top Fuel driver Shawn Langdon was involved in a terrifying crash during the qualifying session at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida.

Langdon’s car, traveling at over 300 mph, suffered a catastrophic engine failure, causing it to veer off course and collide with the retaining wall. The impact was so severe that it ripped the car’s body off the chassis, sending debris flying everywhere.

Langdon, 40, was extricated from the wreckage by emergency responders and transported to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical condition with severe injuries, including a punctured lung, broken ribs, and a concussion.

“The entire NHRA community is praying for Shawn’s recovery,” said NHRA President Glen Cromwell. “This is a sobering reminder of the risks our drivers take every time they get behind the wheel.

The incident has raised concerns about safety in the sport, with many calling for improved engine containment and protective measures to prevent such devastating crashes in the future.

An investigation into the incident is underway, and the NHRA has offered support to Langdon and his family during this difficult time.
