Baylor WBB Lands All-SEC Freshman Yuting Deng from Auburn, Sharpshooter Averaged 11.8 PPG in Just 12 Games.
Baylor University has secured a significant addition to its women’s basketball program with the transfer of Yuting Deng from Auburn University. Deng, a 6-foot guard from Hunan Province, China, made an immediate impact during her freshman season in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), earning a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team.
Joining Auburn in January 2025, Deng played in 12 games, all within SEC competition. Over an average of 28.2 minutes per game, she averaged 11.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists, showcasing her all-around skills. Her shooting efficiency was notable, with a 38% field goal percentage and a 36.5% success rate from three-point range, making her the team’s most prolific three-point shooter despite her limited playing time.
Deng’s performance in the SEC was particularly impressive. In her 11 conference games, she averaged 12.0 points, ranking fifth among SEC freshmen. Her 25 made three-pointers and 36.8% shooting from beyond the arc would have placed her among the top 10 in the conference had she met the minimum playing requirements.
Before her collegiate career, Deng represented China on the U24 national team in FIBA 3×3 competitions, where she played a pivotal role in leading her team to victory in the FIBA 3×3 Series in Debrecen, scoring 11 points with five rebounds in the championship game.
At Baylor, Deng is expected to bolster the team’s perimeter shooting and provide a dynamic offensive presence. Her international experience and proven scoring ability make her a valuable asset as the Lady Bears aim to enhance their competitiveness in the Big 12 Conference.
