Alexander Zverev responds after Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend removes a cryptic message.

Alexander Zverev suggested that Taylor Fritz’s supporters might have been excessive in their celebrations during their Wimbledon match, while Fritz’s girlfriend described his comeback victory from two sets down as “for the girls.”

Fritz defeated Zverev 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 on Centre Court to advance to the Wimbledon quarter-finals. The 13th seed delivered a remarkable performance to recover from a deficit, overcoming Zverev, who was struggling with a knee injury from his previous match against Britain’s Cameron Norrie.

Following the match, Zverev and Fritz engaged in an extended discussion at the net, which seemed to indicate some frustration from the German No. 4 seed. When asked about their conversation, Zverev mentioned that while Fritz himself hadn’t bothered him, he felt irritated by the reactions of Fritz’s family and fans.

Zverev noted, “Taylor and I have played against each other since our junior days. It was pretty clear that I wasn’t at my best today. I wasn’t moving well throughout the match. I wasn’t able to chase down drop shots effectively; when I did, I was limping rather than running.”
